This course is designed to qualify you to use enriched air “nitrox,” enabling more no stop bottom time during your dives. You are trained in the use of enriched air with 22 percent to 40 percent oxygen. There is an emphasis on enriched air with 32 and 36 percent oxygen as these are popular blends.

REQUIRED AGE / CERTIFICATION LEVEL

• Minimum age:  15 years old and PADI Open Water Diver certification, or have a qualifying certification from another organization.  (Enriched air dive one can be conducted at the same time as open water dive four.)
• There are knowledge reviews in the PADI Enriched Air Diver manual which must be completed and reviewed by the instructor during the classroom session when you will also watch the PADI Enriched Air Diver video and take the Enriched Air Diver exam.

COURSE OVERVIEW

• The Enriched Air Diver Course will enable you to achieve longer dives.
• It may be credited towards a program of specialty courses to achieve the Master Scuba Diver rating.
• The class lectures enable you to plan and make no decompression dives using enriched air (Nitrox) blends containing 22 to 40 percent oxygen while remaining within accepted dive table and oxygen exposure limits.
• You will also learn about the special equipment requirements for nitrox diving and how to care for that equipment.  How to manage and avoid possible enriched air hazards and apply the benefits of enriched air for recreational diving.
• There is additional supporting material for using enriched air with up to 60 percent oxygen, which is commonly used in semi-closed circuit scuba for recreational diving.
• You are required to analyze two enriched air blends and log the results on an enriched air log sheet as part of this course, the two open water dives on enriched air are optional.

• DSAT Equivalent Air Depth Table (metric or imperial)
• DSAT Oxygen Exposure Table
• RDP Tables for Air EN32 & EN36 (metric or imperial)
• Snorkel, mask, fins, a dive knife and a compass
• BCD with low-pressure inflator, regulator a secondary air source, a submersible pressure gauge, scuba cylinder can all be rented at Lauderdale Diver
