The Deep Diver specialty course is intended to serve as a safe, supervised introduction to deeper diving within the limits of recreational scuba diving. The purpose of the PADI Deep Diver specialty course is to develop the student’s theoretical knowledge of deep diving and enable the student to safely plan, organize and make no-decompression dives between the depths of 18 meters/60 feet to 40 meters/130 feet.

COURSE PRICE

  • $370.00 per person
  • $470.00 per person - Private

REQUIRED AGE / CERTIFICATION LEVEL

  • Minimum age:  15 years old and PADI Adventure Diver certification, or have a qualifying certification from another organization.
  • There are knowledge reviews in the PADI Deep Diver manual which must be completed and reviewed by the instructor during a classroom session when you will also watch the PADI Deep Diver video.

COURSE OVERVIEW

  • The Wreck Diver course can be used to increase your maximum certified depth rating from 30 meters/100 ft to 40 meters/130ft
  • It's a great introduction to the thrills of deep diving
  • It may be credited towards a program of specialty courses to achieve the Master Scuba Diver rating.

There are 4 dives  in the Deep Diver Course

1.      Open Water Training Dive 1- By the end of this dive students will be able to:

  • Execute a descent using a reference as a tactile or visual guide, compare the amount of time needed to complete a task on the surface and at depth
  • Compare your own depth gauge to your instructor’s and/or other student’s depth gauges.  Using a depth gauge and timing device (or a decompression computer with an ascent-rate indicator) ascend at a rate not exceeding 18 meters/60 feet per minute using a reference line or sloping bottom as a tactile guide while also conducting a three-minute safety stop at 5 meters/15 feet before surfacing.

2.    Open Diver Training Dive Two - By the end of this dive students will be able to:

  • Execute a free descent using a reference line, wall or sloping bottom as a visual guide only.
  • Describe and record the changes that occur to three pressure sensitive items while at depth.
  • Perform a navigation swim with a compass away from and back to a given point.
  • Perform and ascent using a reference line as a visual guide only.
  • Using a depth gauge and timing device (or a decompression computer with an ascent-rate indicator) ascend at a rate not exceeding 18 meters/ 60 feet per minute using a reference line or sloping bottom as a tactile guide.
  • Conduct a three-minute safety stop at 5 meters/15 feet below surface.

3.    Open Diver Training Dive Three -  By the end of this dive students will be able to:

  • Descend using a reference line, wall or sloping bottom as a tactile guide.
  • You will describe and record changes of colors at depth.
  • The ascent will be made using a reference line (as a tactile guide) and a depth gauge/ timing device ( or decompression computer with ascent-rate indicator) to measure an ascent rate not to exceed 18 meters/ 60 feet per minute.
  • You will perform an 8 minute simulated emergency decompression stop at 5 meters/ 15 feet below surface while breathing from an emergency air source for at least one minute of the total time.

4.     Open Water Training Dive 4 – By the end of this dive students will be able to:

  • Descend using the contour of a sloping bottom, wall or ascent/descent line as a reference. You will then complete an underwater tour of the area.
