The Rescue Diver qualification is about becoming a better-rounded diver, who is more aware of the signs and symptoms of stress in other divers. Rescue Divers also learn how to combat stressful situations and help other divers if they are in a difficult situation.

REQUIRED AGE/CERTIFICATION LEVEL Minimum age is 12 years old Students must be an Advanced Open Water Diver (or proof of equivalent certification by another training agency with proof of 20 logged dives) Students must also have a current E.F.R. certification. Divers under the age of 15 may obtain the PADI Junior Rescue Diver certification Junior certification requires the individual to dive with an adult.
COURSE OVERVIEW
- Knowledge reviews must be completed from the Rescue Diver manual.
- Students required to watch Rescue Diver DVD, followed by class presentations on rescue training.
- On a separate day, pool confined water training and open water scenarios will be performed.
- The course is completed after a review of Knowledge Reviews and completion of the Rescue Course final exam. Participants must score 75% or higher in the exam.
- Estimated course duration: 36 hours.
STUDENTS TO SUPPLY
- Mask, fins, snorkel, dive knife and Rescue Crew Pack.
- BCD, tanks, regulator set with alternate air source, wetsuit, and compass. (This equipment is available for rental from Lauderdale Diver if needed)
